Saft Power Systems consolidates DC systems and converters business under Harmer & Simmons Brand

SINGAPORE. JUNE 17, 2008 – IN CONJUNCTION WITH COMMUNICASIA 2008 – Saft Power Systems today announced the consolidation of its DC power systems and converters (power supplies) business under a single, global brand – Harmer & Simmons.

Effective July 1, 2008, customers will find the company’s broad range of DC systems, including DC systems for telecom, custom and standard power supplies for telecom and industry marketed and sold worldwide under the long-established Harmer & Simmons brand.

“Crowning a three-year effort, the rebranding signals the successful consolidation and integration of our DC systems and power supplies businesses,” said Ron Clements, VP Telecom Power Solution Division. “We stand at the threshold of a new phase in our long history as we begin to build the Harmer & Simmons name into a global brand serving global markets.”

Established as an independent company in January 2005, Saft Power Systems inherited DC systems activities based mainly in the UK and France, marketed and sold under the Harmer & Simmons, Saft Power Systems and even AEG brands, and of the converters business formerly an Alcatel operation. Signaling the successful completion of a three-year consolidation and streamlining program, the Harmer & Simmons brand was selected for its long-established qualities of premium customer service and pioneering product innovation.

The Harmer & Simmons brand will cover the entire portfolio of DC power systems, standard and custom power supplies offered by Saft Power Systems’ Telecom Power Solution Division. These include modular DC systems ranging from 0.1 to 1000 KW as well as standard and custom designed power supplies.

Established in the United Kingdom since 1927, the Harmer & Simmons name stands for the pioneering spirit and commitment to excellence of its founders. Originally set up to supply mobile amplifiers and sound systems, Harmer & Simmons has been serving customers with innovative power supply technologies and products for more than seven decades.

The re-branding does not affect industrial products and systems for industrial markets under AEG or Saft Power Systems, such as high reliability UPS systems and industrial chargers.
